Pro Bono Opportunities:
The Know Your Rights Project

Outlaws, the Jim Toy Community Center, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, and local volunteer attorneys operate a pro bono clinic that serves that greater Ann Arbor LGBTQ community.

Students work with clients on issues such as name and gender marker changes on drivers licenses, divorce, adoption, child custody, birth certificate amendments, trans* safety, and expungements. Additionally, student attorneys will create educational materials to inform LGBTQ people of their rights in areas of particular concern. Volunteers have the opportunity to shadow local attorneys working on clinic cases.

Consider devoting at least three hours of your time this semester to the Know Your Rights Project. We meet on Tuesday afternoons at the law school. Sign up for shifts here.

Community members seeking legal assistance can find more information here.
