Pro Bono Opportunities:
The Know Your Rights Project
Outlaws and the Jim Toy LGBTQ Center collaborate on a legal clinic in Ann Arbor focusing on issues faced by the LGBTQ community. Students will work with clients on issues such as name and gender marker changes on drivers licenses, divorce, adoption, child custody, birth certificate amendments, trans* safety, and expungements. Additionally, student attorneys will create educational materials to inform LGBTQ people of their rights in areas of particular concern. Volunteers have the opportunity to shadow local attorneys working on clinic cases.
Consider devoting at least three hours of your time this semester to the Know Your Rights Project. We meet on Friday afternoons at the Jim Toy Community Center, 319 Braun Ct. Sign up for shifts here.
